Open Question: Wasn’t buddhism responsible for both decline of hinduism and advent of islam through afghanistan?
although real culprit is islam not buddhsim. buddhism in itself is a good religion, but i feel that it made work of islamists easy.
earlier hinduism was the major religion in most of south and south-east asia. burma, thailand, cambodia, malaysia, indonesia and vietnam were all predominantly hindu nations. culture of cambodia and thailand is still highly influenced by hinduism, though hinduism is wiped out by buddhism.
places with buddhist majority were first to be islamised. present day afghanistan, west pakistan and a large population of indonesia was buddhist. not only in afghanistan, brutal genocide happened in indonesia also. in indonesia, hindus fought and opposed invaders whereas most buddhists were either killed or converted. remaining hindus managed to flee towards bali and made bali a hindu island.
now descendents of buddhists are terrorising afghanistan and bombing bali!
